Timelapse Image Analyser: Getting Started

Getting Started is straight-forward if you follow the Tutorial Manual and the Quick-Start Guide below.

TimeLapse Tutorial Manual

This brief tutorial illustrates how to use the Timelapse Image Analyser. We recommend you download the image set (as well as the Timelapse program on the Download & Install page), so you can follow along by doing the operations on images as illustrated in the tutorial.

TimeLapse Quick Start Guide

Note. The steps below illustrate an extremely small set of Timelapse features. Check out manual and the various menu options to understand other features that will help you create an efficient workflow.

  1. You will need a folder full of images that also contains a timelapse template file. For now, use the sample template (and various images/videos) included in the tutorial image set.
  2. Start Timelapse.exe (it may just be called Timelapse) - You should see a 'Getting Started' screen with instructions.
  3. Select Load template, images and video files from the program's File menu, and select the template folder mentioned above.
    • If all works well, you should see the images loading in, and the first image displayed.
  4. Examine each image.
    • use the magnifying glass to look at details
    • use the scroll wheel to zoom into the image or video, or drag the zoomed in imag or vidoe to pan around it.
    • use the left/right arrow keys to move to the previous/next image
    • use the up/down arrow keys to see a visualization that emphasises the differences between the current image and the surrounding images.
  5. Enter data about each image.
  6. If you want to count something
    • click on the counter representing the thing you want to count
    • left click on the thing you want to count on the image - it will draw a marker on the image
    • right click to delete that marker
  7. Select Export data for this image set as a .csv file and preview in Excel' from the File'' menu. You should see a spreadsheet containing the data entered so far.
  8. Try repeating this processing on your own iamages / videos.
    • Use the TemplateEditor.exe (included in the executables) to create your own template file detailing data fields particular to your needs: see the Tutorial Manual for how to do that.
